SHOW REVIEW
ELIPSUS 2008 NORTH AMERICA TOUR
DATE 8: FRI JAN 25TH, 7PM-10.30PM
BORDERS BETHEL PARK
PITTSBURGH, PA

***FIRST EVER OUT OF STATE ELIPSUS SHOW***
***FIRST EVER PITTSBURGH ELIPSUS SHOW***
***FIRST EVER PENNSYLVANIA ELIPSUS SHOW***
***THE LONGEST SHOW OF MY LIFE***

Tour Date 8 was amazing. Bethel Park, PA. I'll remember this one forever. What a night! It went absolutely wonderfully. I just want to thank everyone that made that possible. That means you!

First and foremost I would like to thank Julie aka Elipsusgurl for working so hard, and always taking care of business... for being my companion on my trip down here and being so supportive. It was great to have you there tonight for my first out of town show.

Secondly, well what can I say? Joanne S, the fan club President really outdid herself this time. After some of the busiest days of my life, I overslept this morning and for all intents and purposes, would have been late for my first ever out of town show. But not if Joanne had anything to do with it. She... (a) printed up the best possible directions, which guided us perfectly from Interstate 79 through the twisting and turning mountainous streets of the south suburbs right to Borders. (b) Assembled 200 CDs for sale on this tour in... wait for it... wait for it... LESS THAN 24 HOURS... I dropped them off after dark yesterday... she had them ready this morning. (c) Provided us with a list of eateries which enabled us to find Primanti Bros tonight. (d) does there need to be a d? That's pretty amazing. THANK YOU JOANNE. I would like to dedicate this show to you, for that reason. Even though you couldn't be here, you were here.

Thirdly, I would like to thank Brian from Borders Bethel Park. What a friendly guy! He booked this show with me, RSVPd with my Pitt fan club, and did not even bat an eyelid that I was 6 minutes late (and didn't get started until well after 7.20). He was the most gracious of hosts, and treated me wonderfully well, and helped make this first out of state tour date a huge success.

Fourthly, I would like to thank the cute girls working at the cafe for staying the whole time (who cares if they were getting paid), for the Chai, and for being so supportive.

Fifthly, to the lady in the corner who stayed the full 3 hours, and gave me Steelers Merchandise, a sticker for my keyboard, and team photos. Thanks so much! I think she almost offered us a place to stay too :)

Sixthly, to the deer, for not dying. I'll explain shortly. That would have ruined the day.

Seventhly to the architects of this amazing town. It takes our breath away.

And finally, I would like to thank everyone that was there. Most of you are not on myspace, but nevertheless you were there, and you stayed for over three hours and gave me a great audience for the longest show of my life. That includes the sweet Luc from San Sebastian/Madrid, and the guys who came down from North Hills just to see the show. You were a wonderful, wonderful audience.

Thanks also to everyone who bought the CD, my second highest sales total for a Borders show ever.

We didn't leave Buffalo until 4.20pm. We arrived at Bethel Park Borders at 7.06pm. I suppose I should also thank the state troopers for not pulling me over... I think I averaged about 95mph the whole way here. I was doing 105mph for part of the way. After the show, though, I did run into the cops, who pulled me over for driving strangely while looking for Primanti's around the Strip District. They took about 20 seconds to check out my interim license, and then directed me to Primanti's, boasting that it is open 24 hours.

The before-and-after of the show was certainly dramatic. Even after one of the craziest drives of my life, to get here in time (kind of), it was what happened afterwards that was the most remarkable. We were driving away from Borders, just a few blocks away, and what should we see, but two deer run across the road in front of us. They were small. Then two grown up deer were waiting to follow them but traffic was heavy. We did a u-turn and tried to scare them into going the other way, but it didn't work. They wouldn't budge. One of them was staring right into our eyes. Finally, they bolted and took off across the road. The one who had stared at us was smashed into the air by a speeding SUV doing about 40mph. We started screaming. Then a police officer showed up. He told us the deer was alright. We looked and sure enough the deer had got back to its feet and run off into the hills. It was crazy. It had been knocked flying for about 20 feet, but had survived.

It was a very emotional night. A wonderful show, great CD sales, after a crazy few days, and a 100mph+ drive from Buffalo North Suburbs to Pittsburgh South Suburbs in 2 hours 46 minutes. Then the deer incident. Then we stopped on top of the North Hills and looked out at the most beautiful city we have ever seen (see the poster of tonight's show, to see what we were seeing), and it took our breath away. That view was... heaven. They built a special observation deck and that's where we sat and enjoyed the view. It was a miracle.

And then we finally located the strip district, and made our way to Primanti Brothers, and after being stopped by the Pittsburghese cops on the approach, finally made it inside and devoured two of the sandwiches (they are so huge some would call them megawiches) that made Primanti's famous around the Pittsburgher world.

And the crowd... I mean, if the Daily Grind crowd stayed long, this crowd was crazy. There were people that stayed over three hours. And quite a few of them supported the show and the gas money it took to get here by purchasing a signed copy of Changing History.

The store was really cool. It is one of the few Borders that has a lower level, and it is probably the coolest one I've ever been in. What a place to perform my first ever out of state show! What a great memory! A dramatic, frenetic, pulsating, roller-coaster ride of a day and night, and one of the most memorable of my life. Thank you JULIE, thank you JOANNE, thank you FANS, thank you COPS, thank you BRIAN, thank you PRIMANTI'S, thank you DEER, and thank you PITTSBURGH, PA!

I am very very glad there are three shows in Pittsburgh. This is one of my favourite towns in the world. I can't get enough of this place. It's like nowhere else I've ever been. Wooooooooo. I should have gone to school here.

Our Instruments Have Been Stolen... Please Help - November 30, 2007

...
Last night outside a downtown Buffalo club, The Elipsusmobile was stolen by thieves.

The wagon was found hours later in a parking lot on Michigan St.

Both Elipsus synthesizer-keyboards were stolen as well as other electronic stuff. One of these boards belonged to Brent Persia of the Brent Persia Band, and one of these belonged to Fox from Elipsus... Both were essential to the upcoming Elipsus... shows and programmed with lots of information.

Neither one is worth more than $50 by now. They are worth a lot more than that to us.

If anyone can help us locate either keyboard, or both, or the voice recorder or the battery charger, we will give you a reward. The reward is negotiable (you tell us what you think is fair, we have no idea), and no questions will be asked. We will definitely pay more than the market value for their return, even though we are poor.

These things happen. We're not taking it personally or philosophically. We have no regrets about going to the show last night or bringing the keyboards in case someone cancelled and there was room to play a set. What's done is done. We will see you all at Diablo on Thursday, at Mocha's on Friday, and at Mohawk Place on Monday. We are looking forward to it.

If anyone can help us with a new keyboard, the only requirements are that it must have a ton of sound settings, drum settings, and a song memory for at least 10 tracks but preferably more - PLEASE it would be appreciated.

Our love goes out to all those in the world who care, and to all those in the world who have much bigger problems than ours - which includes billions and billions of people.

The good news is, we officially hired our brand new bass guitarist today and will unveil him on Thursday.

Goodnight
Fox

...
...
The second newsletter goes out today, so make sure we have your email address, and make sure that you check your spam this evening to make sure it didn't go there. You don't want to miss it.

THE INJURY TO FOX: (from fox)

During the championship game last Thursday a very big guy fell on me in full flight, and severely messed up my shoulder. We didn't know whether it was dislocated, or collarbone broken or fractured, or what...

I don't have medical insurance (none of the current line up of the band does, we haven't sold enough albums for that yet) so I couldn't find out what was wrong with it till yesterday at the free clinic. The pain has been excruciating all weekend. I can't move my left arm in certain ways, I can't lift even the lightest of things, and I can't roll down my window or put on tshirts etc.

I either have a fracture or a torn rotator cuff. Ironically, it won't stop me playing live shows or playing keyboards, but it will keep me off work for awhile (even the slightest lifting is painful)... I go for X-Rays in the next few days to see exactly what it is.

I will still be at Infinity Sunday, and Madame Mocha's (Lovejoy) next Friday, and Rock And Roll Heaven the Sunday after. We just announced 3 new dates which we'll put up on myspace soon. You can now buy tickets for our shows right here on our myspace profile, or on in the Music Shop section of our this website, which if you haven't yet checked out, you must!
3 new show dates:
Just added: Friday November 23 @ The Coffee House, Williamsville, NY $5
Just added: Monday December 10 @ Mohawk Place, Downtown Buffalo, NY $5
Just added: Thursday December 27 @ Club Diablo, Downtown Buffalo, NY $5

The injury is why I haven't been online much lately, but there are LOADS of things for you to watch and listen to pertaining to Elipsus... right now. Television and radio, some of these are very controversial.

The second edition of the Changing History newsletter is about to go out to everyone, over 1000 fans. If you'd like to receive it, send me your email address, or sign up on the front page of this website... You can now also buy our album and concert tickets right on myspace, or also from this official site.

Last Night @ Diablo / Brent Persia / Davey Burkka - October 14, 2007

An update for everyone...

Our thoughts are with our lead guitarist, who lost a friend on Friday night, meaning he was not in the right state of mind to play our show last night. He apologizes to the fans and our thoughts are with him.

His new unveiling will wait until Daily Grind (Lockport) on Thursday, and Clarence Coffee (Clarence) a week Friday, and his full band live debut will be on 11/04/07 at Club Infinity, the place with the best sound system in the world. Tickets are $10 and available from The Elipsus... Music Shop

The International Release Party went well, as did the pre-release show in Lovejoy. Club Diablo is one of the best venues we have ever played, and treated us very well. We'd like to give a shout-out to Jesse who is one of the nicest and honest club owners we have ever met.

We would like to thank the wonderful Brent Persia for filling in at a moment's notice for our lead guitarist, and coming from his show at Broadway Joe's straight to Diablo for the impromptu Elipsus... full band show.

We would like to thank the brilliant David Burke aka Davey Burkka for showing up early for his band Formaldehyde's show, having only had 4 days to learn the material, and not even knowing if he was playing or not (because of the cancellations), and putting on an absolutely phenomenal performance. In fact: the single best drummer we have ever used, by some margin.

We have more gigs to announce, in a news bulletin coming to your computer screens very soon.

This myspace bulletin from yesterday kind of reminds me of xmas. If you are not a member of myspace, it's worth signing up (free) just to hear all the commotion. It is part of the "much fanfare" release of our album internationally yesterday. Sales have been going well so far.
CD Release Bulletin with much fanfare...

For those Elipsus... fans who frequent this website but have never been to our myspace, make sure you check it out! Lots of fans hang out there too... it's different but also cool. The official ELIPSUS... myspace.

Look out for our new bulletins coming later.
